“Either Everyone Is Important, or No One Is”: Lessons That Shaped My Life

Some of the best advice we ever receive comes from the people who know us best. For me, it came from my mother, a woman whose wisdom often seemed simple on the surface — but carried a depth that only becomes clear over time. She used to say:

“Either everyone is important, or no one is.”

At first, I didn’t fully grasp what she meant. Was she talking about family? Friends? The people we meet in passing? Over the years, I’ve come to realize it applies to all of life. It’s a lens through which to view how we interact, lead, and even succeed.

Why This Advice Matters

On the surface, it sounds like common sense… treat people well. But the truth is, we often fall into the trap of valuing some people over others. Maybe it’s because of their status, their influence, or what they can do for us. My mother’s words were a gentle , but firm reminder that selective respect is no respect at all.

This philosophy has shaped everything I do:

  • In Business: When I started building my companies and working with clients, I realized that every interaction counts. Whether it’s a CEO, a customer, or someone just reaching out to ask a question, treating each person with respect and importance builds trust…
